Dylan's First Valentine's Day

We have been pretty busy during the last two weeks.  Shane has been working hard in the garage putting up sheetrock and getting it ready to be painted.  We also picked out some beautiful travertine flooring that we are going to put in our entry way.  Two days ago Shane had started demolition on the entry way including those awful railings.  It already feels much more spacious.  I have been working and watching Dylan while Shane has been doing all of this work.  His good friend Danny has been helping out a ton and we are so thankful for that.  Dylan and I got to spend the majority of Valentine's Day together.  We took a long walk with Cash and like always he fell asleep in the stroller.  Shane came home after work and I made us dinner; all in all a good day.

YAY!  The railings are finally coming down!

Changes Dylan has made in the past couple of weeks...

Changes Dylan has made in the past couple weeks…
  • he is now very verbal…he really wants to talk
  • he is starting to play with his toy on his car seat
  • he is starting to really enjoy his baths and likes to splash around
  • he held is own bottle for the first time
  • he is becoming more interested in Cash (our dog)
  • enjoys looking at himself and us in the mirror
  • just keeps getting cuter…and louder…but definitely more adorable…if that’s possible

I can't believe he is holding his own bottle...good boy!
We have been pretty busy this past week. Dylan got to see his Grandma Nelson again and got to meet his Grandpa Nelson for the first time. We took him up to Snowbird and took some pictures and I even got my mom out skiing for the first time in about 25 years (and she did great!). We even went up on the tram the very first run. On Saturday we went to Gorgoza Park and had a blast snow tubing. It was so much fun! I had never been there before and going at night is definitely when to go because the runs are faster (luckily we all walked away with no injuries). On Sunday we watched the Superbowl and ate lots of food…yummy! Although Dylan was wearing Payton Manning’s number and the Colts colors, he was really rooting for the Saints.

I survived...

Well I survived the first two weeks back at work.  The night shifts left me tired but at least I got to spend some time with my little man.  I was able to get more sleep on the day shifts but they left only about 30 minutes when I got home to see Dylan before it was his bedtime.  Hopefully it will get easier... Shane has been adjusting pretty well to staying home with Dylan while I am at work...too bad I can't leave work during my lunch break.  Here are some more pictures.

1st Week of Work

Well, I just completed my first week of work.  I worked the last 4 out of 5 nights and am so glad that is done (Shane is too!).  The first night was so hard to leave Dylan, I even got a little teary eyed on my way to work.  When I got home the next morning he was laying in bed awake and cooing.  I bent over into his crib and said "Mommy's here" and he let out a  big squeal followed by the cutest smile.  That just melted my heart.

He is finally starting to like to be in his swing.

So Cute

Well the last few weeks have gone by very fast.  I have been getting prepared to go back to work.  I am not looking forward to leaving my little baby for 13 hours.  I go back to work on January 20th.  I can't believe how quickly these past 11 weeks have gone by.
Dylan had his 2 month check up this past tuesday.  He weighed 12 lb 7 oz and was 24 inches long.  He was in the 50th percentile for weight and the 83rd percentile for length.  Who would have guess he would be so tall?  He also got his 1st set of immunizations, three shots and a liquid drink.  Shane was such a good Dad and comforted him during and after his shots.  Meanwhile I sat nearby sad that he was in such pain.  When we got home he was very fussy so we gave him some baby tylenol which seemed to help.
This week we also had our first date night.  Our friends Amanda and Danny came over and babysat Dylan while we went out to Asian Star to enjoy some Sushi and Mai-tai's.  It was nice but weird not to have Dylan right there.  Amanda did such a great job and had him in bed sleeping by the time we got home.  I really missed not putting him to bed so I went in the nursery and just stared at him for a little while.  It is amazing how you miss the little things so quickly.

What a happy baby!

Always loves to smile...

Well, almost always likes to smile... I think he has had enough with the picture taking.
