Florida, sweet Florida!

We have spent the last week soaking up the sun and warm weather in Florida.  It was 75-83 degrees every day and it only rained once in the morning hours.  We stayed with my grandma, Ginny, at her house in Florida.  She lives in a great 55 and older community.  They have activities everyday which include horseshoes, shuffleboard, tennis, bingo, card games, and our favorite pool and hot tub.  We went swimming everyday but unfortunately they don't let babies that are not toilet trained in the pool so Great Grandma watched Dylan while Shane and I enjoyed the pool.

Dylan was the best baby on all four plane rides.  Even with a ear infection he slept almost the whole time on all flights.  Even people around us were impressed and he was so quite.  Luckily we didn't get any of those 'please may your baby be quiet glares'.   Dylan also had another first while we were in Flordia.  He can now roll over from his back to his belly!  Shane saw him do it the first time and then I turned him on his back again and he rolled over a second time. Another first he has had this week was eating rice cereal for the first time.  Most of it ended up on his face or the burp cloth but it was a good try.

While we were in Florida we had the chance to go to a Oriole's baseball game in Sarasota Florida, they were playing the Yankees.  Grandma watched Dylan the whole day while we were away.  We had front row seats right off the 1st base line.  It was perfect.  I got 5 players autographs and a foul ball thrown to me!  We also bought Dylan a cute little oriole's outfit.  Two days later we went to a Twin's-Phillies game in Fort Meyers and took Dylan along for his first baseball game.  We got tickets in the shade this time to protect him from the sun.  He slept just for a little bit and had a good time watching all the people the rest of the time.

We took a lot of walks around the plantation and even took a walk on the beach.  Dylan got a kick out of the feeling of his toes in the sand and water.  He would let little giggles out everytime the ocean came up and touch his feet.

At night we would eat dinner and then Grandma would watch Dylan while Shane and I took a swim in the pool and relaed in the hot tub.  The sunsets were so beatiful.  I love watching the sky change colors through the palm trees.  One of the nights they had bingo in their social hall.  It was a lot of fun, especially listening to all of the senior citizens get all worked up.

In the end we had  a great trip.  Luckily the flights went great, Dylan was a angel, and Grandma loved to spend time with him.  The weather could not have been any better and hopefully we can do this all again next year!

14 POUNDS

Dylan now weighs in at a huge 14 POUNDS!
Well, I took Dylan on Thursday to the pedatrician and she diagnosed him with a ear infection.  I was wondering why the past couple days he was so fussy.  They put him on amoxacillin which Shane and I were a little nervous of because Shane is allergic and we didn't know if Dylan would have a reaction or not.  I ended up working that night and Shane was in charge of checking in on him throughout the night.  Luckily for Dylan he is not allergic but I don't think Shane got much sleep that night.  Today Dylan is much happier.  He is playin in his jumperoo and has even started to play with more of the toys in it.  He has started to realize that when he moves certain toys they make noise.

Dylan and I spent St. Patrick's Day together.  We did a little shopping since I needed some new clothes for Florida.  Shane worked that night so I put Dylan down and got some good sleep.

That's all for now.  Monday we leave for Florida!  We are going to visit Dylan's Great Grandma and we are also going to go to a couple MLB spring training games; one to see the Orioles the other to see the Twins.  We are so excited, I just hope the plane ride goes well.  We are now going to be those people every hopes they don't ended up sitting by.

4 Month Check up

Just a quick update...
Yesterday we took Dylan to his four month check up.  He got another round of shots which he hated.  Shane did a good job of comforting him during and after his shots.  We were both suprised to hear that he didn't gain as much weight as we had expected.  He is now 13.5 pounds which puts him in the 22nd percentile and is 25.5 inches tall which scores him in the 60th percentile.

Dylan is 4 months old

I know it has been a while since I last posted.  What's new?  Well,  I have been called off at work a lot lately which has been great because I get to spend more time at home.  We celebrated our 11th year together yesterday.  Time sure does fly by.  Shane has been working very hard in the garage and has also started to demo the tile in the entry way.  He is about half done and I can't wait for the travertine to be layed down.  I never realized how much longer things take to be completed when you have a baby...but boy do I know now.

Dylan turned four months old last week and he doing great.  He has started to make extremely loud and high pitched noises.  When he first wakes up from the night before or for naps he has started to make lots of funny noises and entertain himself.  It is so funny to lay in bed and be woken up to him cooing and finding his voice.  The newest thing in his life is that he has found that he has feet.  Whenever we take is onesie off or his pants down when we change him he lifts his legs up and grabs onto his feet.  He loves to play with his little chubby legs and feet.  He has also started to kicked and squirm a lot more now.  I am trying to enjoy the fact that I don't have to chase after him quite yet.  Cash doesn't seem to know what to think about Dylan and all of his new noises he makes.  Cash always wants to check on him or be next to him.  Luckily he has been a really good dog...we hope that continues as Dylan starts to move around.

I didn't even try to put him in the smaller basket...I guess I didn't realize how big he really is.

Those big blue eyes again...

Dylan loves his fingers...and knuckles...and hand...

What a cute little bum!

Dylan's First Valentine's Day

We have been pretty busy during the last two weeks.  Shane has been working hard in the garage putting up sheetrock and getting it ready to be painted.  We also picked out some beautiful travertine flooring that we are going to put in our entry way.  Two days ago Shane had started demolition on the entry way including those awful railings.  It already feels much more spacious.  I have been working and watching Dylan while Shane has been doing all of this work.  His good friend Danny has been helping out a ton and we are so thankful for that.  Dylan and I got to spend the majority of Valentine's Day together.  We took a long walk with Cash and like always he fell asleep in the stroller.  Shane came home after work and I made us dinner; all in all a good day.

YAY!  The railings are finally coming down!

The last railing to come down and a peek into how much work we are really going to have taking out this tile.

Changes Dylan has made in the past couple of weeks...

Changes Dylan has made in the past couple weeks…
  • he is now very verbal…he really wants to talk
  • he is starting to play with his toy on his car seat
  • he is starting to really enjoy his baths and likes to splash around
  • he held is own bottle for the first time
  • he is becoming more interested in Cash (our dog)
  • enjoys looking at himself and us in the mirror
  • just keeps getting cuter…and louder…but definitely more adorable…if that’s possible

Fun in the tub

I can't believe he is holding his own bottle...good boy!
We have been pretty busy this past week. Dylan got to see his Grandma Nelson again and got to meet his Grandpa Nelson for the first time. We took him up to Snowbird and took some pictures and I even got my mom out skiing for the first time in about 25 years (and she did great!). We even went up on the tram the very first run. On Saturday we went to Gorgoza Park and had a blast snow tubing. It was so much fun! I had never been there before and going at night is definitely when to go because the runs are faster (luckily we all walked away with no injuries). On Sunday we watched the Superbowl and ate lots of food…yummy! Although Dylan was wearing Payton Manning’s number and the Colts colors, he was really rooting for the Saints.
